You do not have to study fancy learning

theory to enjoy teaching your dog.

THIS IS B.A.M.

B. is for Boomerang

In "BOOMERANG" dogs learn to go away & come back. It is a fun way to burn energy while learning those two useful concepts. Both puppies & older dogs will love this game. Your dog will get to practice being responsive while at a distance.

A. is for Anchor

STAY PUT until told otherwise is an essential skill for every dog to have. Because dogs enjoy posing Rin-Tin-TIn style on their anchor, the concept of STAY PUT is easier & faster for dogs & puppies to learn. The anchor can help with stimulas control for the over active dog as well as build confidence for those dogs that need it.

M. is for M.E (Moving with Engagement)

Does your dog find heeling a "drag"? Do YOU?

Moving with Engagement (M.E.) will spice up your walks! By learning how to engage with your dog more every day walks will be more fun for you both. When you add side changes, speed changes & snappy turns being on leash won't be so boring. Your dog will understand when to stay close.

You do have choices…

The Hard Way 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Letting unwanted behaviors get worse as your dog or puppy perfects them by practicing them.

  • Feeling the frustration of trying to teach a dog that is "checked out".

  • Ending up with a dog that is a nuisance for your guests & unwelcome at parks & beaches.

The Better Way 🤩

  • Having more wanted behaviors by creating better communication.

  • Feeling the joy of teaching a dog eager to learn from YOU.

  • Ending up with a dog that is responsive, enjoyed by your guests & welcome in public.

Testimonials

The BAM course is broken down into simple steps that you can't wait to practice.

The best part is the strengthened bond I now have with my dog and the increased level of trust I see in her eyes!

—Lori

I just want to give a big thank you to Sandy Rogers for her BAM course. I learned so much and have so much to work on! Not only am I working with my young girl; I am also working with my 4-year-old and 9-year-old on the same exercises!

—Pam

I was a bit overwhelmed when I first saw all the material to go through, but once I started going through it I realized they were short snippets and not overwhelming. The videos were the perfect length and I've seen results with my dog already. We were off-leash working on the moving with engagement exercise and I was really proud of DJ for keeping his focus on me with dogs barking next to us.

—Anna

We are BOTH getting so much out of BAM! You’ve done a gold-standard job of thoughtfully breaking the lessons down into digestible bites. The tone of the lessons is so positive, which is a huge source of support and inspiration. You make me feel like we WILL succeed in the end! I will absolutely recommend this course to my students who get new puppies, to those who are missing foundational elements, and to those who aren’t as bonded with their dog as they could be.

—Julie and the BCs

I recently completed the B.A.M. Online Training taught by Sandra Rogers and it was amazing. I have taken other on-line dog training and this one was by far superior in content, and cost.

—Robin

I am really enjoying the class with my 5-month-old pup. Very sequential. Basic to more advanced.

Corby and I had a fabulous time with your course!! She is finally getting Boomerang. It is amazing to watch her as she realizes what she is supposed to do. Even when I am far away she goes around the back! We will soon graduate to a tree. Thank you for a great time. It was well worth the $$. I can finally work with Corby off leash and for that I am truly grateful. She was impossible!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this course be a fit for you?

We know it’s not all about the dog. Not even close.

This course has to work for you, as well as your dog.

Here are the most commom questions we get.

You are not alone with your concerns.

How much time will I need ?

It can be stressful to believe you don’t have enough time for your dog. Dog training is a great way to slow your roll. The time you find for teaching your dog could be the most curious, connected and in-the-moment time that you experience all day. Five extra minutes twice a day will give you results in 5 days or less. Too much? How about 5 minutes once a day? Stick with either plan for two weeks and let your dog amaze you. You will find with the enhanced communication skills you will soon be able to teach your dog within the course of your daily life.

I have a tendency to give up on training programs. How do I know I won't quit this one like all the others?

You are not alone; some dogs can be hard to figure out. Many people expect too much from the dog and too little from themselves, so they end up feeling frustrated and give up before the results can happen. Looking at your role as that of a teacher will help you develop empathy for your student (in this case your dog). If you develop a curious mindset while sticking with the training project you will become more patient and open minded, thats when training becomes rewarding and successful.

What If I'm new to dog training?

You are in the right place, BAM is the perfect place to start, much better than a busy class where focusing is difficult for both you and your dog. The BAM skills are well explained with lots of video. BAM will teach YOU how to respond to YOUR dog. It is not a one size fits all program. Throughout the program you will be learning how to be a good dog trainer. Then you will have enough control to get the most from a group class.

I am an experienced trainer.

Will I be bored?

Nope. BAM founder Sandy Rogers is very accomplished in the world of competition obedience & dog agility (6 medals at the world level, including a GOLD) & all of her dogs are BAM DOGS. You will see the versatility of the skills & be able to expand on them beyond the Basic BAM Course. Check out BAM Pre-Agility before you purchase; you may want to jump into the deep end of the pool. If you would like to teach BAM at your school contact Sandy.

More Frequently Asked Questions

Will this course be a fit for your dog?

We know your dog is unique; every dog is influenced by their breed,

their temperament, their learning history & their people.

Below is a sampling of the most common questions we get asked about dog "types".

Is this course effective with high-energy dogs?

Some dogs don’t seem to have any “off-switch”. Life can be challenging for both these dogs and their owners. The BAM skills meet these dogs' needs in two very specific ways. First, the dog is on the move, in both BOOMERANG & Moving with Engagement, so they are learning while letting off some steam. Second, the ANCHOR skill teaches them to “chill out” and allows them to learn "self-regulation" in an easier way than a traditional down or sit while paving the way to those skills.

Is the course good for sensitive or shy dogs?

Dogs that are sometimes wary of people, places, and things often don't make it through traditional training classes. Their lack of confidence simply makes it too difficult. Because the BAM skills promote confidence by design they are a perfect place for these dogs to shine. As the owner of a sensitive dog, you know that your dog is not dumb. In fact, most of them are very smart and just need a way to prove it. BAM does that.

I have a well adjusted dog or puppy. Is BAM just for "troubled" or difficult dogs?

Not at all. Dogs with sound temperaments are usually easier to train than dogs that also need our help with their emotional regulation.

You will likely be able to build your communication and BAM skills easier and faster, leading to new adventures, with off leash control and dog sports.

My dog will sometimes act aggressively will this program help ?

Some of us might have a dog that could hurt or scare another dog, person or child. It is likely that access to activities are limited for this dog. BAM can provide mental and physical stimulation for any dog that needs more things to do. You can teach BAM in small areas, even in an apartment.

NOTE: Choosing to live with a dog that could be dangerous is a complex issue that requires professional guidance NOT covered in BAM.
